Hello,

I've been viewing the boards since November last year when I first got my kitten and it's helped me out alot, but I have a thing now which I haven't seen yet.

My kitten is about 12 weeks old now but since Saturday I've noticed that her back seems a different shape.

It's strange, but the top of her two front legs, the bones, I can actually feel when stroking her and I've never felt them before.

It's like I run my hands down from her head and you can feel the two bones there. I might just be imagining it but it really looks like her back has gone out of shape slightly as if her actually back has moved down cos when she sits she seem s abit like a hunch back lol

She also hasn't been eating like normal, and I just wonder if I'm imagining it or what lol Thingis she is still really playful, cuddly whe she wants to be and so I'm a bit confused.

I can get a picture if you want, just is it normal to feel the top of her lef bones?

Thanks,

Kev

I was a bit confused, but it sounds like you are talking about her shoulder bones.

If this is the case it is perfectly normal to be able to feel them.

Kitten grow farely fast so it may just be that the bones are more prominant than before.

But I'm not sure.

Thanks, its like you stoke her and you can feel each bone and you can put your fingers inbetween the bones like?

It is her shoulder bones I think, but I just never felt them until Saturday and it felt a bit strange to me

I might get a pic as its hard to explain lol

Sounds like you are feeling in between her shoulder blades. It's normal to be able to feel their shoulder blades, and there is a little depression in between them. She may have had more fat as a kitten so you didn't notice before.

I find if you can feel the spine or back bones very easily ( even more so if you can see it ) just in front of the hips, then the kitty is too skinny.
What you are feeling are the scapulas or shoulder blades, thats normal, you can even see them moving when kitties walk, more so when they are stalking something and slink along with their belly almost touching the floor.
