Hi - several days ago I made my first post to this board. About a 3 month old kitten we had adopted from the PALS organization. I just wanted to let everyone know what happened.

Jojo passed away on January 25, 2004 - just a little over a week after we got him.

Apparently, Jojo had worms when the PALS agency got him from the animal shelter. It use to be that the medicine they gave cats for worms, had the cats pass the worms in their stool. Now the medicine acts differently - as I am sure you are all aware.

Basically, the toxins from worms caused a section of Jojo's small intestine to turn in on its self. So Jojo was unable to have a bowel movement and felt pretty crappy and did not want to eat.

They performed sugery Saturday evening, but he progressively got worse.

We will be having a little ceremony for him this afternoon. I just feel so bad for my two boys who are 7 & 5.

Our vet also says that soneone should have noticed this problem before we adopted him, because he was so underweight. He was three months old and only weighed a little over 2 pounds. Our vet also made the comment that when places such as these put more than one cat in a cage that they really have no idea what each cat is doing. If the cats had been seperated, there is a chance that they would have caught this sooner and been able to save Jojo.

Well, I just wanted to let everyone know what happened with Jojo.

I'm so sorry for your loss. That is just so sad. Most of us here have lost at least one of our fur babies. So, we do understand how you are feeling. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry my husband and I went through a very similar situation with a kitten we adopted at the spca.
