just got 4yr old cat and don't know much about his past eating habits. I know he was alone alot and so I'm assuming ate alot of dry food since his owner traveled. I've been giving him 1 3oz can of petguard twice a day, he loooveeess the food.. but he's thrown up three times.. just looks like regurgitated food. Not sure what to do.. poor kitty i don't want to deprive him but i'm afraid he may not be able to stomach the wet food.. any suggestions?

maybe slowly introduce another brand of cat food...could be just the food.

I have one cat that throws up on a regular basis (we believe she just tries to keep her girlish figure at nearly 9 years old). A couple of weeks ago I had a full blood panel run on her just to rule out anything going on and everything came back normal. She just like to puke I guess - but one particular variety of canned food always always comes back up so I can't give her that whereas my other 2 cats eat it just fine.

Then I had another cat that came from a cat collector as a kitten and she would wolf down food, step back and put it right back in the dish (yuck). She ate so fast cause that is what she learned as a kitten. If I gave her just a little food - enough to give her time to digest it she was fine - then I'd give her more.

I'd try another good cat food - maybe she can handle that better.

My cat throws up right after he eats if he eats too much too quickly. He shouldn't do it every time though I wouldn't think.

I have always wondered: Should I let him eat it after he throws it up? He always wants too, and so does the dog, but I clean it up. I was just wondering if it would hurt him to eat it??

Elizavixen, the only thing it would harm would be his teeth from the stomache acids now in his thrown up food. The acid will can wear away at the enamel on teeth.

thanks.. good news i found the culprit. The cat somehow managed to find a chili pepper that had fallen on the floor and from the looks of it the little piggy tried to eat it.. so I'm thinking thats why he threw up..
