Kinda a weird topic to post but here it goes...

my younger kitty Sammy (6 months or so) has been farting a lot lately and they are the most foul smelling things ever! Is this normal for a kitten or is there something wrong or is it the food I am feeding him? I have been giving him that Chicken Soup food recently...I switched from Iams.

Anyway...just wondering because WOW the one he just let off made my eyes water!!
LOL

Dumb question but are you feeding him "kitten" food? Nina used to do that when she was about that age, she could STINK up a room! Thank goodness she stopped doing that! 'Cause it was gross. Anyways, when I switched her farting got loads better, I think it was the food, but maybe it is just a "baby" thing.

Love ya sis!!!

It could be that his body is still adjusting to the new food.

I am sorry to hear you have that problem with your kitties. I feel sort of responsible, I've been raving about Chicken Soup so much. But my cats really do well on it.

It might be a kitten thing or adjusting to the food. When the kittens I have were born (over a year ago), and they were ready for cat food, Chicken Soup only offered the adult formula. But now I see that they have a kitten formula as well. Have you tried the kitten formula? It's just a suggestion.

I suppose all cats are unique but mine seemed to have had no problem switching to the Chicken Soup.

I had two cats that were farters, Bebe and Eve. Bebe lives with a friend now and does well on Authority. Eve is still with me. When I was feeding my cats Chicken Soup they both had the most foul smelling farts. I know how you feel b/c they were really rank. And Eve always farts on my lap. Yuck!

I have feed it to them several times and she wasn't quite so bad this last time, but still stinky. She does really well on Nutro Maxx.

My dogs always were very stinky on Chicken Soup. They had terrible gas too. The gas got better on the second bag, but they still had to poop A LOT! Like big piles 4 or so times a day. I have put them on Nutro too and it is a lot better. They go small amounts 2 times a day.

Your cat might adjust to the Chicken Soup or it just might not agree with him.

Oh Catwoman...not your fault at all don't be silly!!

I am feeding them the adult version because the vet said it was ok and they were both old enough for it now. I need to buy more food today so perhaps I will buy the kitten one.

Although before I switched foods he was farting a lot too...they have just become a LOT stinkier!! Maybe it's a kitten thing?! Anyone else's kitties have this problem? LOL

perhaps I will try another bag? this has been their first one. Rory seems fone on it. I hesitate to change it because they both seem to LOVE it. But if it is the cause of Sammy's stinkers then it's like gotta go. He let one loose last night when I was in bed...ACK gross!! haha
