Ok! This little kitty is definantly sick. Tonight she tried to climb inside her food bowl and use it as a litter box and then she couldnt fit so she went all over the floor right next to it. It was the runs too. A cat just doesnt do that.... its been along time since Ive had one but I know that they dont like to crap near their food. Much less on top of it. Right before that happened, my husband put water over top of her hard food and she actually started eating it and I was really happy. I have tried that many times but she would never do it for me. Why she did for him... I have no clue. What do you think they will do w this kitten at the shelter if I tell the shes sick and has been that way since day 1? Thanks

if you feel the place youre taking her to to get checked isnt doing enough for her then i suggest you take her elsewhere. she sounds very sick and needs to be investigated thoroughly, not some half hearted answer and sent back home!

Well if you give her back to the shelter and she is sick they will probably put her to sleep.

I would take her to another vet. A lot of shelter kittens are sick for awhile. It happens from being around all the other cats in a stressful environment. My kittens that were really sick when they were little have turned out to be some of my healthiest adults for some reason. Go to another vet and stick with it. She'll probably get through it.

Please give this kitten another chance.

Your first post here was on January 6th. You have only had this kitten for a little over a week. You first problem with this kitty was her pooping on the couch which you stated had stopped. My kitten had loose bowel movements for the first two week after I brought her home. I also had issues with her eating and had to make a boiled chicken and rice combo mixed in a blender.

A few days later you told us how her motor skills were off after coming home from that vet but the next day you stated again she was better but still moving slow.

Now one day later you tell us how she ate a cheeto and then 5 hours later had diarrhea in her food. Do you think maybe that cheeto may have upset her stomach? I know you said she only ate one, but if she is not eating well to begin with, maybe one cheeto was enough to upset her stomach even more. How far away was her litter box? Maybe she just couldn't make it there because she has diarrhea.

Please find another vet to take your kitten to. Ask your friends or neighbors if anyone can recommend one for you.

Have you had her checked for worms?

She was streated for worms or dewormed with something. Also, if she isnt sick why doesnt she play at all?? I really hate to give her back and I am already considering changing my mind. Im thinking of taking her to another vet tomorrow. Im not being heartless, I just dont know what to do to make this kitten better.

Please try another vet. Sometimes kittens from shelters need some TLC to get better in their new home. Since they're all squished together in shelters, they tend to be sick when first coming home.

My first kitten came home with a horrible Respiratory infection that turned into pnenumonia. We had to stop taking her to the shelter vet because she wasn't getting better. We took her to our now regular vet and they did a world of good for her. She got fluids, medicine, and all she needed to get better. But, it took a few weeks to have her feel better. She actually turned anorexic from the first mediciation from the shelter. Trust me, it took work to get her better, but it was worth it and she is my world.

My second kitten came home with bladder problems. She had crystals in her urine and would pee all over the house. She went in the cat bed (where the cats sleep) and anywhere else you could imagine. The shelter we got her from (different from the one above) sent us to their vet and took care of her for free. It did take us a couple visits to clear up the problem. But now, she is a happy, healthy 2 year old that I love to death.

Your kitty may take time to get better, I just hope you try all you can to make the kitten better. If you do, you'll ask yourself down the road how you could've lived without your family member.

Good luck and try to hang in there
