Hello!

At first, my cat was only vomiting a couple times a week. I changed her food (for hairball problems) as I noticed that she was cleaning herself obsessively and would sometimes throw up hairballs. This worked for a few months. However, now she's throwing up twice a day. She is also missing patches of fur where she's cleaned herself so much that she started to go bald. What can I do for her to help her end her obsessive cleaning so she will stop throwing up? Is it more likely to be a different problem altogether?

It sounds like the problem isn't the throwing up, its the excessive cleaning. Your cat might have some allergies or other problems causing her to groom excessively. It's not normal for them to groom themselves so much that they go bald. Check out this link and see if you can figure out what might be causing her grooming:

What food was she on and what did you switch her to?

I switched her from Iams weight control to Iams weight control/ hairball formula. But, now that I read about the Iams posting, I will be switching her again. I think I'm going to buy only vet food from now on. Thanks for the link, I'm going to check it out now.

If you want a good hairball formula food, try Authority hairball formula. It has worked great for one of my kitties. A lot of foods from Petsmart are actually better than some of the vet foods, and cheaper.
