Should a cat have a wet nose?

Each day when I come home from work and when I emerge from my bedroom in the morning, my kitten greets me at the door and meows until I pick him up for a hug. While I'm holding him he nuzzles my face, and rubs his cheak on mine in the same way the cats rub thier cheaks on table legs.

The last month or so I've noticed that the nuzzles have become slimy. Is he wiping kitty-snot all over me?

Is it normal? Should I be concerned?

He doesn't show any other signs of a cold.

My kittens always have a 'wet' nose, except for when they 1st wake up from a nap. From what I read, a cat's nose, should be "damp and cool"....that is a sign of good health. Now, if they are wiping 'snots' on you, thats a different story. If you see actual 'drainage' from there nose, they could be getting a 'cold'.

Wwhen their noses are warm and dry, that is a sign that they are sick, or not feeling well.

Should I be concerned if mine doesn't have a wet nose, I don't know if she has ever had one in the two years I had her except when she had a cold.

Signs of a healthy pet:

Dogs: moist, cool nose; cats' noses are drier but also generally cool.......
