Our cat Milo started throwing up three days ago. She is around 3 years old and is normaly a very energetic cat. She is strictly an indoor cat. We have been to the vet twice and had x-rays done with and without barium. The vet said he could see no problem, but Milo continues to vomit stomach bile. She has not had any food for two days, but has recieved an iv at the vet for fluids. She is being treated with anti-biotics in case it is a virus. We can't find any reason for her illness. Any suggestions or information would be helpful.

Sorry to hear your cat is not feeling well. Here are a few things that can make pets sick:
1. flea spray
2. carpet spray/powder
3. Hertz flea drops
4. household bleach (even just the fumes from you using it to clean)
5. most household cleaners
6. Easter Lilies and Peace Lilies (plants)
7. Onions
8. tea tree oil
9. essential oils
Also click here onto this site. It has a lot of information on what is toxic to cats http://www.vetinfo.com/ctoxin.html#Toxic plants and cats

Has your cat been exposed to anything on this list or anything possibly in your house?
Keep us posted and check the site to see if anyone else can think of a few more things.

Is you kitty getting any better with the antibotics? Did you try feeding her thru a sryinge? You can even give her some water thru the sryinge. Does she have a temperature??

Sometimes blockages don't show up on x-rays. If they the intestines are twisted just right, they wont show up. You might want to ask your vet about that.

If you need to give her nutrients try nutrical, it is easier than force feeding her with a syringe.

Thank you for all the information. Milo is on antibiotics and is back to her old self. We are still unsure of the cause, but hope it was just a virus.

I'm very glad your kitty's doing better. I just found this website, and your specific message. My Dad's cat was going through spells (every couple of months) of vomiting bile and liquid. He (the cat, not Dad) wasn't eating, became lethargic, many visits to the vets, many tests, and mucho dollars - and no conclusions. Even though these episodes recurred every several months (for several years.)

I was cat-sitting for this old guy (about 13 yrs. old) and put him on the same food that mine eats (Nature's Best dry food by Hill's Science Diet.) AND I stopped all the little goodies (ie., pounce, whiskas, etc.) And the cat has not been sick in about 9 months - with the exception of one time when Dad gave the cat a few of his "treats." The vet could never figure it out - and we don't have the answer, but for Murphy - this food and ZERO snacks seemed to fix the problem, even when the antibiotics didn't. So, if this problem recurs, you might want to try this food (and no, I don't work for Hill's!) Good luck..
