I have a 2-year red Abbyssinian that I just took in for a friend in October. I noticed a small scab (nickel size)on the back of his neck. I called the previous owner and she said it was probably just a spider bite and put neosporen on it. That was Nov 15. The sore didn't seem to bother Red, it was just itchy so he keeps scrathing it and it just got bigger. I took him to the vet and he said it wasn't ringworm and gave me some oinment to put on him once a day for a week. That week was done Wednesday and I put a little more on him yesterday and it looked like it was helping, but like the vet said, I stopped. Now the sore has opened up again from Red's itching it. I didn't bring any of his medication along to my bf's house. Can anyone else think of what it could be and a fast fix that would get me to Monday that I can take him to the vet?

Hydrocortisone cream or neosporin will help it to not itch as much.

When you took him to the vet did they do any tests on the spot, or did he just visually look at it? You have to use a special light called a Wood's lamp to identify ringworm.

The vet visually looked at the sore and they didn't do any test. He said it was just an abrasion and he said main spot from which it spread from needed to get cleared up first, Thanks for the help.
