how do i make my cat not fear of bath time. every time i bathe him, i feel sorry for him like as if i'm torturing him. when it's time to dry up he doesn't like it if i dry him up with a towel. he likes to lick his body while sitting on our carpet or pillow or somewhere soft and dry. i heard that it is not good to let a cat dry itself after a bath cause they can get ill, is that true? oh, ya! will it effect my cat if i use my hair shampoo to shampoo his body?

Cat's dont' really need baths, they keep themselves pretty clean! Only give it a bath if it starts too smell or something like that!

You really don't need to give your cat a bath unless he is covered in something like tar or oil (just an example).

Yes, cat's are very sensitive to human shampoos. So, don't use shampoo on a cat. It can actually make him sick.

So, don't worry about giving your cat a bath. They keep themselves quite clean.

Cats wont hurt themselves by licking themselves after a bath unless you have put some chemicals on them. If you have to bathe a cat baby shampoo or dish soap is the best thing to use unless you can find a really mild cat shampoo. There is no need to bathe a cat unless they have something on them that they can't/shouldn't lick off. The only time I bathed my cats was when I took them in as strays and they had fleas and were really dirty. They have kept themselves clean for years.

My cat gets a lil stinky at times. She's still young and plays in her litter box sometimes.
I use a cat shampoo.
I've only done it twice.

puppy/kitten shampoo is good to use. if you dont show your cat and it doesnt get real dirty then id agree with everyone that its not really necessary. but the more you do it the more it should get use to it. a good comb through once a week gets rid of loose hair and dirt.

You don't need to bath your cat unless it is really dirty and cant clean itself. Cats are naturally clean animals and washing them with chemicals strips their coats of its natural oils and protection.

I do not advocate washing cats in fact its cruel really as the stress is far too much for them. So unless you really really need to wash your cat DON'T.

If the cat is smelly and its not caused by dirt this might be indicative of a medical problem so take it to a vet.
