hey there it's me again...i was wondering how long can a cat survive without food. we often travel and usually leave our cat behind for a week or two. we can't bring him along cause he seem's to be frighten when we put him inside the car and the journey takes about 6 hours. my cat don't like strangers and so we can't leave him to my relatives, afraid if he wonders to far someone will take him. my cat doesn't like to eat cat food. he likes fried fish and chicken, very picky. how else can my cat get good nutrients beside cat food?

I noticed you live in Malaysia. Is he an indoor or outdoor cat?
If he's an outdoor cat is there anyway, someone (like one or two friends) can leave food and water out for your cat two times a day when you are gone? That person can leave the food out where your cat normally eats outside or if it eats inside the person can leave food outside where the cat usually walks into the house (such as front or back door).

If he's an indoor cat, can anyone just come to your house twice a day to feed him and give him fresh water in a bowl?

You said your cat was very picky with food, but when a cat is hungry it will eat normal cat food.

If you didn't live in Malaysia I would suggest a pet sitter or boarding the cat at a vet's office. I have a feeling this is not an option for you.

Let us know if you can find a friend to help feed your cat when you are gone. Cats do need food and water everyday.

I didnt know exactly where in Malaysia you live so I did a broad search for pet sitters/house sitters and this is what I came up with for Malaysia.
http://www.housecarers.com/search_result.cfm?CFID=3827734&CFTOKEN=46332490

You can also try www.petsit.com Its an international company and they might just have someone in your area

What about leaving dried fish for him- it wont spoil as fast as fried fish? Also, I would leave cat food down for him when you leave, if he gets hungry he will eat it. He would eat the cat food before he starves to death.

Cats can probably go without food for a couple of days. I'm guessing that as long as they have water it would probably be 7-14 days before the cat actually starves to death, but it would have some serious health conditions if it did survive.
