I have a barn cat that was given to me about 4 months ago. She really does not like people very much and has been hiding in barn since we got her. She has warmed up to me and my daughter and lets us hold her. She is mostly hiding in the walls or the rafters. She had a lump in her cheek about 2 months ago, it didn't seem sore as we could touch it. It has since popped and drained out and looks like it is healing just fine. Another lump has shown up above her eye it also started draining. Do you think that this will heal itself? I just don't know if we would be able to get this cat into the vet as when the previous owner brought her over he was pretty scratched up by the time he got here.

Wild animals will lick their own abscess until it ruptures and drains. However, that doesn't mean that all of them are okay.

Since you said both abcesses have ruptured and are draining there is something you can do if you can't take her to the vet.

Is there anyway, she would let you hold her long enough to place her on a scale and get her weight?

If so, write down her weight. Then call the nearest vet and explain that she is a 'wild' cat with a draining abscess. Ask the vet if he/she would be okay to give you liquid Amoxicillin drops for you to give to her 2X a day. They will want to know her weight, to be able to give her the correct dosage.

Since she will most likely not let you give the drops to her orally, just put the required dose on top of some soft food. Cats actually like the taste of it. This way, she gets her Amoxicillin without you trying to force feed it to her. This will help her body fight the infection very well.
