My 8 year old female has always been healthy until Friday night when she began vomitting every 30 minutes or so, first food, then white bile, and then clear liquid with a little blood.

Took her to Vet Saturday Morning and got x- rays and blood work--nothing could be found to explain the vomitting.

We went home and she continued to vomit less frequently, but with increasing amounts of blood.

Took her back to the vet and admitted her. GI test went all the way through the system. Agreed to surgery to look for obstructions and and take samples for Biopsies. No obstructions found, but the vet said the liver did not look quite right, but said he could not make a confident call without the results.

Now Waiting for results of biopsies. She went 12 hours after surgery with out vomitting but when she was given water she vomitted again two times last night. She looks good and alert (even with the stress of being in the hospital). Just awaiting results now...

Has ayone had simialar situation..have I done everything I can to help her?

I'm sorry your kitty is not well. Yes, you have done everything you can. You're a responsible and loving pet owner for taking her to the vets.

I hope your kitty will be okay. Keep us posted.

One more thing....have you sprayed her with any flea spray lately? This can make cats really sick. They end up trying to lick all the flea spray off of them and when it gets into their system it can make them not only vomit, but become quite ill as well.

Did the vet say anthing at all to help narrow down what the cause might be? Such as she ate or drank something in the house that wasn't meant to be ingested? Perhaps the water is not good? Try bottled water? Use of carpet cleaner in your house?

Try and look around your house and see if there is anything at all your cat might have gotten into.

Also, check the site to see if anyone else has some suggestions. Let us know how your kitty is feeling.

Hung out with PJ for a few hours last night at the hospital...she seems very much alert and normal(except she is not eating)...she is over the hosptial and scared but that is to be expected...she did not eat last night but she did not vomit either (she was dry heaving the other night). I am considering bringing her home for a night to see if she will eat in a friendly environment then re admitt if she vomits again??????

She is a very very very shy and nervous cat and the hospital is hard on her.

The vet has no more tests to run and is hoping it is something that is passing....they are begining to help financailly also.

I'm sorry that I can't help you. I just wanted to say that I'm glad your kitty is doing better. Definately try bringing her home, the vets office is probably very stressful for her.

Maybe she had a blockage that she managed to pass. Hopefully she will keep doing better.

Hi- hope things are improving for your kitty.
My cat was not eating or drinking for a week. I was syringe feeding and hydrating him using Pedialyte which is clear flavorless liquid used when children are vomiting or have diahrrea, to replace electrolytes. I took him to the vet who could find no problem, but suspects, he may
have renal failure. He gave him a shot of a steroid called TRIAMCINOLONE to stimulate his appetite. It did seem to help - although this is only the second day, and he takes one bite and then walks away. I am giving him a milk-like supplement with nutrients for cats. I have to squirt it a little at a time into the back of his throat. At least he is less lethargic and partially grooming himself, which was a big problem last week, when he was looking really rough. I am hoping he just had some kind of intestinal virus, and is getting better...?
Good Luck with yours, keep us posted...

I hope your cat is doing better. I know it's a rollarcoaster of emotions and very stressful for not only your cat, but yourself.

Did you find out what's wrong yet?

I hope that things only keep improving.

I have a 9 yr old male that has vomited 6x since last night. I have a vet appt. this afternoon. I started mixing a hair ball food in with his normal food about a week ago - any connections to your cat's diet??

Took PJ home Thursday..

She started to eat a little at a time..and has not vomitted since wednesday at he clinic.

They still have found no reason. She is sore from the surgery but seems very normal.

How long will she be sore?

She is eating almost normally now.

I guess it will be a mystery.

Maybe this is a bit like yours though mine had licked the furniture after polishing.

She wouldn't eat, drink or anything, and all she did was vomit. The pledge that I used to polish the table with obviously appealed to her because she licked it and got very sick. We thought we were going to loose her, and all the tests came up negative. What keyed us in was the smell of her nose and facial hairs....it smelled lemony fresh!

She hasn't done that agian, and we've been much more careful with cleaning now as well.
