Hi there, last June we moved to a new province and we took both of our cats. They are indoor cats and we had to live with relatives for 3 months where the cats had to live in the garage. My male cat who is 9 years old started loosing fur around his neck. Someone said it was stress. Now that we are in our house for over a month, he is now loosing his fur down by his private area and it's moving up his belly. I can't see it being stress now, as he's in the house with us all the time, sleeping with us and can do whatever he wants. He is also vomitting alot, and forever cleaning the area where the fur is falling out. Any suggestions, Tracey

Sounds like it might be allergies. Hair loss on the belly and legs and excessive licking usually indicates allergies. He may be allergic to some pollen or something that is around the new place. Have your vet give you some steroids to try. If the problem clears up with the steroids, then it is allergies.

Keep in mind, though, that if it is allergies and the problem goes away with steriods, it will come right back when the steroids are gone. At that point, you need to figure out what is causing the allergy and try to eliminate it from his environment.

From the pattern described I am assuming they are seasonal allergies which will require allergy medication. The vet may decide differently though.
