Author | Topic: Why has my cat stopped using it's litter box? |

![]() ![]() ![]() I got my kitten about two and a half months ago. She was about six weeks old and I trained her to use a litter box with basically no problems. About three weeks ago for NO reason that I can see she's started going in the house. She goes in strange places like in my bathtub, on the bed and even on shoes. I live in a two story house and I was thinking that maybe she's lazy sometimes and doesn't want to go upstairs to my room to get to the box...if that's the case, where is the best place for the box? I'm moving to a new house soon (another two story) and my dad says if my cat doesn't start using the box I have to get rid of her. ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() You have to rule out medical problems, she could have a urinary tract infection. If the vet says there are no medical problems. Something probably happened that you don't even know about. The best thing to do is to retrain her by confining her to a relatively small area with the box. She will start again. She is still young and may not have been fully trained. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I agree with everything Fleafly said and wanted to add.... I would also get another box so she has one upstairs and one downstairs. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Do you feed her in you room as well? Just a thought but I know that cats won't eat where their litter box is, perhaps she won't use her litter box where her food is.... IP: Logged |
