My cat just kind've picked up on it, I always talked to her and called her Gracie, and now she knows that is her name ! She comes when called, and, if you are talking to her and say her name, she will meow and talk back!

I've always just made sure to use their name a lot initially, when I'm petting them or talking to them, feeding them, generally in a positive setting. It takes a while for them to come when they are called (but isn't that true of most cats even when they know their names?). Eventually they figure it out.

my kittie actually learned her name quicker than i expected! we've only had her about 3 weeks to a month and she always comes when she is called. i think it's a result of just talking to her and saying it all the time, to the point where you feel like an idiot! my kitten doesn't like treats, but i think it helped to pat her and tell her she's a good kitten when she showed up after being called. good luck!
