My 5 yr old cat somehow got outside 10/23/03. He hasn't came home I've been up and down the streets I've talk to my nighbors and came up empty handed. Put a missing cat ad in the newspaper, posters with a picture went to the animal shelter still nothing. He has been fixed, declawed. He's my only child that'll ever have, I can't have kids. I miss him I'm so tried. I can't understand why he got out and where he is now. I also live down the street from a train yard so all i can think of is that he is on a train in the middle of no where it hurts so much to think that he hasn't ate or don't have a warm place to sleep. I feel bad because I have food, and a warm place. Is there anymore I can do just in case he is in the area?

Im so sorry to hear that you lost your cat
Other than what your already doing, I don't have any suggestions but hopefully another poster will have some. Hope he returns home soon.

I know what you're going through and I feel so bad for you. A couple years ago my baby, who was also declawed and strictly indoors, got out of a window. I did everything you've done, and after about two weeks I almost gave up hope. My lease expired and I had to move, I was heartbroken. I left information for whoever the next tenant would be, and I also kept checking with the Humane Society. About a week after I was in my new place, a girl called, from the old apt., saying she thought she might have my cat. I drove over and there she stood with my naughty cat in her arms. He had crawled back in through the window there, and he looked like he had never even got out. I never found out where he was, but I figure he may have gotten into someone's garage or something, because he was in such good shape. I was soooo happy to see him, and then I got a little angry with him.

Anyway, don't give up hope!!! You just never know.

Indoor cats that get out are usually found within three blocks of home. They usually get scared and hide under the closest thing. Put food out side near your house at night. The kitty may come around to eat it. If you can leave a door or window open that is good too. One of my indoor cats escaped through a screen. I saw her outside, but she was so scared she wouldn't even come to me, she just kept running from hiding place to hiding place. I left the screen door to the porch open and she wandered in about an hour later. Read the post entitled runaway cat by betsygood. Just do a search for it. There is more advice there, including my experience with using an animal communicator to locate a lost cat.
