I'm really scared. I came here recently to ask a pretty simple question about dandruff and scooting. Ironically, now I'm afraid I might have a much bigger problem.

Yesterday, when I was rubbing around his head and neck, I felt a lump. It's about the size and shape of a really big almond. It's under his skin around the base of the ear and top of the neck. It moves around a little.

Is this something to be really concerned about, or will I be told just to keep an eye on it? I feel I need a 'heads up'.

Has anyone else delt with something like this? I don't know if they have lymph nodes around there, but then there's the question of why it would be swollen. He's acting like his regular old self. My baby is 8yrs. old, and 16lbs., but not all fat.

Please help ease my mind if possible. This kitty and I have been through so much together, I don't think I could handle it if something happened to him.

I will be so appreciative, and I will keep everyone posted. Thankyou!

Please keep us posted on your kitty! I know how stressful a time it can be waiting to go in to see the vet and then waiting for results. My thoughts are with you!!

Good luck!

Thankyou so much Cat. This is really a great site, everyone is so nice. I've been to other sites where they seem to argue a lot. I'm glad I found this one.

The lady that answered the phone at my vet said to keep an eye on it for about a week or two. She said if it gets any larger, or is still the same size, to take him in. So I guess I just have to wait and see now. I'll just keep praying!

Hi

I hope you are feeling better and that the lump goes away. Let us know how he is doing!

Hi Cat,

I'm a bit better since a few people have told me that lymph nodes are in that area, and that movable lumps aren't usually serious.

I'm keeping an eye on him, and I'll keep posting.

Bye!
