My sister has a two year old cat. The cat has a discharge from the vaginal area. It is a spayed cat. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

Thanks

what does this discharge look like i would have to advice going to see a vet as vaginal discharge after a cat has been spayed could be a sign of something wrong this could aslo mean that when the cat was spayed a small part of an ovary may have been left in this can cause a spayed cat to still call out to males and have a slight discharge keep us posted

She was spayed almost two years ago and has not had any problems til now. I asked my sister and she said according to the vet, the cat had not had a heat yet when she was spayed and the organs were very small yet and still not developed enough to get a heat. I read today online it could be Cystitis or vaginitis that can be cleared up with antibiotics. My sister says she has never "called out". She does talk a lot though! Oh I almost forgot, she says it just looks darkish in the hair around the vagina and the actual vagina itself looks normal outside. When she wipes the area it is light brownish.

i would take the kitty to the vets i dont believe in spaying or neutering a cat or dog till after there first heat this way there ovaries have developed soounds like there is an infection its always better to get a vet to check just to make sure its nothing to serious and to give her the correct treatment keep us posted of how she is doing as any discoloured discharge should be treated as if she has an infection till this is ruled out by your vet

Ok, just an update. My sister is taking the cat to the vet tomorrow. She asked the vet about spaying early and the vet told her that they do spays now as early as 8 - 12 weeks with no problems. The vet said it could just be a little irritation in the vagina that can be cleared up with antibiotics. Other than that the cat is fine. She is eating, playing, pooping and all that good stuff. Amazing how hard it is to tell when a cat is sick sometimes.

Ok, got good news. Spoke to my sister tonight. The vet bill was expensive, about 278.00 but they took blood tests. So that was the most expense. Everything is normal bloodwise. There was no discharge from her vagina. It was just that she is overweight and dirt got into her folds and she licked it and made it nasty because she could not clean well. They just shaved the area. They did her anal glands and also cleaned her ears and eyes. She had slightly pinkish eyes. But otherwise nothing serious at all. They gave her only 6 days worth of antibiotics for her eyes... She is a healthy kitty otherwise! He said she needs to be on a diet though. Lol
