My cat Cassie likes to go outside, Yesterday when she came in she was really wet because it had just rained. Now she has a snotty sneeze. We also have another cat and a puppy and I want to make sure she can not pass a cold or disease to the other anmals in the house hold.

yes, cats can definetely get colds, but I don't know of they can get pneumonia. ask your vet for some cold medicine, and if its not too serious, it should clear up quickly.
(your cats eyes might also be watery if its a cold)

yes cats can get pneumonia. Pneumonia is really just the name for a bacterial infection of the lung. It is very serious in any animal but especially smaller ones

Actually, pneumonia just means that the infection has gotten into the lungs regarless of the agent.

Depending on what caused the problem the agent can be contageous. However, if the other animals didn't get chilled they may fight off the bug without any problem. I would be more concerned about a young animal or a very old one. The young don't have a fully developed immune system and older ones tend to have compromised immune systems. If you didn't keep them isolated before the symptoms developed, it's too late to do so now. The rest of the animals are already exposed.

My cat had pneumonia (sp?) when she was 6 months and went on steriods - prednisone - to clear it up. She had one relapse before she got better and fat from the steriods. I notced her purr was raspy as if she had phelm in her throat. Keep on eye on her. As for colds, my cats catch colds whenever they are stressed (i.e. moving house and long car rides)and usually they both get the sniffles and sneezes. I usually keep a very close eye on them, their energy level as well as food and water intake and let them ride their cold out themselves.
