Hello all,

Newbie just stumbled in, this looked like a good place to ask this question. Our 17-year old ginger tabby is having bathroom issues... for the past couple weeks, his poop is usually a little runny, though not completely like diarrhea - and he poops right at the edge of the box so it's usually half in and half out. Also it seems like he's peeing more than usual (which my assumption would be to worry if it was the opposite). Except for this he seems like he's generally healthy, although obviously aging and getting a little feeble. So I don't know if we should worry about this and take him to the vet, or just accept it as part of his getting older.

any thoughts?

thanks

jd

With him being older it may be that he is starting to get slightly incontinent, something that will happen to us all but a check up at the vet wouldn't be a bad idea as he may have a stomach upset or a kidney infection, with his age its better to be safe than sorry. His immune system won't be what it used to.

at that age they start to have urineary problem or kidney problems, I would for sure take him to the vet. the sign that something is wrong is he is missing his box and that usually means something is out of whack
good luck
