I have 2 kittens that have exactly 1 mounth beween them. Every time they see each other they get into a fight, we wont are cats to have full rome all over the house so we don't put them into diffrent rooms. Plus the yunger 1 is always getting te worst of the fight. With screching & hissing going on I don't know if I should break it up or just let them go. I feel letting them go could cause alot of damage to 1 of the 2 kittens, for they "play" really ruff.
Is is fight for te declaim of alpha male because they are both male. Or is it really ruff playing?

Hi!

Have they always been like this from the very beginning? How old are they? Are they both neutered? When you say playing rough, what does it look like? Is there a stand off with hissing, spitting, agression, fur flying, growling, etc?

My cats fight as well (they are litter mates) and it appears to be mean sometimes. But the worst I've seen is one pinning the other down and a howl coming from one of them. However, most of the time, they chase each other or stare each other down with the occasional swat to the head.

Can you give a more detailed description?

They started right when MnM first swated at his head & Max did nothing, but try to run away. In other words, they have been at each other sence they saw each other. Mainly what it is, is MnM pins Max down & still start biting at him. Then as Max breaks free he will try to tackle MnM down, as Max gets into yet another pin down. Neather are fixed.
Normally when MnM isn't fighting him or when he leaves the room Max is in. Max will fallow him. Then they start up again. I really need to have some free time, because of these guys "fighting" all the time, I fallow them all over the place to break it up when they start. When Max is pined, he will start howling out meows.

Hi!

From what you are explaining, it sounds like it is fighting to me. If you just introduced them (or even in the last few weeks) it will take time for them to get used to each other. My old cats (before the two princesses I have now) took about 4-5 weeks to get used to each other.

You also mentioned they weren't fixed....that may also be a big part of the problem. Fixing them would stop the hormones flowing. Another thought - I don't know about the size of where you are living, but that may have something to do with it. I lived in a smaller apt and my indoor cats were brutal towards each other, but once we moved into a larger place where they had their own space, their change in attitudes was amazing - I'm not suggesting you move. I'm just looking at a possible cause to their fighting.

My thought is to give them a couple more weeks and see how they are. Try not to favour one over the other as there maybe some competition for your attention. If time doesn't heal, maybe think about fixing them which will calm them down and hopefully stop this alpha male business. As kittens, I should think they will settle down, grow up, and learn to share their space with each other. As for your sanity, maybe keep a spray bottle around to break up the fights. Or if you're tired of following them around, "lock them up" in seperate rooms for quiet time or just use a door as a barrier so they can play/fight/get used to each other through a closed door......

I hope this may shed some kind of light....Good luck and keep us posted!
