Hi again. I was just wondering why is it that my post Cold Temperatures On Cats not getting reply's? I am sure someone would have a little knowledge on this subject and even if they didn't say something.

If no one knows anything about cold temperatures on Cats then kindly remove my post and this one too within two days of this date and I will go where true cats lovers care to reply or response.

Thanks,
Mac

Hi Mac-
I'm new to these boards and my one and only question hasn't had any responses, either. I really think people who come to this board love cats and want to help but if they don't have an answer, well....Although it IS odd that this board is not very active in general.
Unfortunately I don''t have an answer for you but it should be an easy one for a vet to answer on the phone. No charge one would hope!
What temps are you concerned about exactly?
I have an indoor/outdoor cat ( Los Angeles, so it's mild here) but often he stays out all day in temps of 40F. In the rain no less, and comes home happy as a clam. Sorry I can't help more....

Mac...now you have me on a roll here....
Are you talking about at what outside temp you could keep a cat unsheltered or sheltered in some way?
Or are you thinking of travelling with the cat, like an airplane cargo situation?
If you can't call a vet, maybe your local ASPCA could answer your questions.
Let us know, okay? Or if you have additional Q's, don't give up...there have GOT to be people out there with some answers.
P.S. I have noticed however, even on other pet forums, that the message boards are pretty sparse with infrequent questions, let alone answers.

Hi me again. Thanks for the reply's. The reason I ask this question was out of concern for a stray cat that had been showing up off and on for about three days (evening) on my deck until last Sunday night the temps got down to about 28 with wind chills. I have 6 other cats and just lost a good friend Whitey three weeks ago and have not gotten over his death as it happen so quick due to an infection from another stray cat that caused a fight etc. Whitey was just protecting his small space since he was neutered but really couldn't fight like the other cat cause he had short legs.

Anyway, this last cat was really friendly and found him unual for a cat not neutered as he seemed to blend in with the other cats well. If Bozo or Kitty or Patch's would get in his face he would just lay down and do nothing it was funny to watch as this cat was big.

I just didn't have room or a place to put him and had to leave him outside but kept him fed well and watered.

I guess I am feeling responsible for his well being and even called the vet to find out if anyone had lost a cat that looks like a panther with green eyes and five paws in front and four in the hind before he left but no vets claimed to know him.

I just hope he may have found a new owner but seems to me he would have come back since I kept him fed and watered but I'm sure you all understand my concern.

Thanks again and hope I didn't sound mean and rough on my lost post.

Mac :-)

I think the post wasn't answered because no one was sure how you may have meant the question?? You asked quite simply at what outside temp could a cat suffer harm??? Well, nature provides a thicker coat that often begins coming in a month or 2 before the really cold weather. However, they need feed and water, and a shelter to huddle and stay warm. At least a 3-sided structure, even a cardboard box that doesn't get wet. Add some hay or straw or old blankets or towels. Free from water dropping on it. Or wind blowing inside it directly.
In short, as with us, cats, animals, need proper shelter and food.
A little description in what exactly you were looking for is what is most easily responded to here really. There are usually prompt answers, many from nurses, vet techs, animal trainers, breeders, lab techs, and many many experienced animal lovers. God bless.
