My cat just turned 1. He's 14 lbs - and is very active. (hes an indoor cat) People tell me hes too big but to me hes just a normal cat. A friend said he could have a thyroid problem. So I looked it up on the internet to see what the symptoms are. The main thing I saw was throwing up. My cat has done that 3 times in a 6 month period. It's not hair balls, its his food. And its 3-4 spots of puke. He was using the litter box a little more than usual but that seems to have subsided. What can I do before taking him to the vet? He seems fine to me.

Is the cat overweight? I have two very large cats that weigh 14lbs and 13.5lbs. They arent fat they are just large cats. Sometimes cats throw up food when they have an intolerance to something in the food but if that was the case I would think he would be throwing up more than 3 times in 6 months.
