My cat has been on antibiotics for allergies several times. They don't seem to help much.
She is constantly scratching her head or under her neck till the fur is gone. I was wondering if a cat can safely take Benadryl?
Thanks,
Deb

NOT REALLY SURE IF IT SAFE, HOWEVER I HAVE A CAT THAT SUFFERS SEVERLY FROM ALLERGIES AND OUR VET PUT HER ON ALLERGY MEDS AND GAVE HER A CORTIZONE SHOT. WE THOUGHT SHE WAS GONNA SCRATCH HERSELF TO DEATH. SHE IS DOING WONDERFUL NOW AND HER HAIR IS GROWING BACK. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Thanks Sabrena,

I am glad to get your reply. Do you know
what the allergy medicine was called?

I know that dogs can be given benadryl. My dog has seasonal allergies, and the vet gives him hydroxyzine. It works very well. I would ask my vet about this. Antibiotics treat infections, not allergies.
