Hello, I would like to know if you have a home remedy for a shinier coat on horses. My horse is being showed and I want him to have a gorgeous sleek coat that is at the ultimate gloss. He is 7 years old and I have no health problems with him at all and he is shedding out normally. I would prefer the remedy to be some kind of eatible source. Thank you and please respond As Soon As possible!!!!! IP: Logged |

With regards to you wanting to give your horse a shiny coat (with edible means) try giving him about a 1/4 of a cup measure of vegetable oil daily. I have been feeding my thoroughbred gelding a measure of oil for about 4 months now and it is amazing what it can do to bring up the shine of their coat. I hope this helps Ruth IP: Logged |

I have to agree that the veg or corn oil is the best cheap and wonderful hair, skin and coat conditioner. I used to add about 1/4 cup to his AM and PM feed, and he shedded beautifully, and dappled up beautifully. It also has an effect of keeping muscle on the horse as well. If you can get a Vet Merk's Manual, they show you the formula on nutrition pertaining /suggesting this oil use BTW! Best wishes. Pauline. IP: Logged |
