Is it safe to feed an oscar only goldfish? I feed him 3 to 4 a week. The problem is that i herd this can be unhealthy because the gold fish might have diseases. So do u reccomend live feeding for a 10'' tiger oscar in a 60 gallon tank?

I think it is ok but make sure the gold fish eats properly and it doesn't roll over plus I think you should feed him/her different foods also.

You'll get a lot of remarks about not using feeders because of the risk of disease and lack of nutrition. As always my reply is what do you think they eat in the wild? You must remember two things about an aquarium. It can never be exactly as it is in nature. You have the disadvantage of space. No matter how large an aquarium you get you will never be able to get one as large as the space they would have in nature. The advantage is you can provide a more healthy diet than they would get in nature, and if maintained properly better water conditions than they would have in nature. The tank can only be a representation of their natural surroundings. I've said this at least a dozen times, "I love a good steak, but if I had to eat steak seven days a week it wouldn't take long for me to be sick of steak. Vary their diet." If you're going to use feeders it is best to keep the feeders in a separate medicated tank and dip them out as you are going to feed them. If you are going to acclimate them into the tank where your fish are I would recommend using something like Maracide in a prophalaxis dosage in the tank to avoid having parasitic problems. Hope this helps.
