hi there! i'm new to owning goldfish- i have a few bettas and i'd never really looked at them before, but the other day i saw a very sad sight at wal-mart...two pretty goldfish who looked in desperate need of help. according to wal-mart, one is an oranda and one a lionhead- both are only about an inch and a half long and neither has a bubbly growth on its head. one has popeye and the other...well, it darts around frantically and looks scared, and has a patch of what could be mold-tough to tell as it's a calico. i've given them Maricyn, as i usually do for my bettas...any advice???
thanks!
~Laura

Hi Laura, It sounds like your doing just fine. Considering how the tanks are often maintained where you purchased your goldfish and the symptom of darting around by the calico I would believe it to be totally within the relm of possibility that the calico may have an internal parasite as well. You MIGHT want to consider using Maracide with the Maracyn and see if he settles down to a normal swim pattern. If you do decide to use the Maracide I would also suggest doing 20% water changes each day before you dose with the Maracide during the 5 day treatment to keep the meds from building up. Also recommend using Amquel and Novaqua when doing the water changes.
