I now understand why my ammonia levels have been too high for the whole 7 weeks my tank has been up and running...I was changing 25-30% of the water everyother day to keep the levels down(which it never did). I was just prolonging (or hanging as KC says) my ammonia cycle by not letting it take it's course. Now I'm leaving it alone and monitoring my levels everyother day to watch the progression of the cycles.

Glad things are starting to work for you. You'll find that once you get your bacterial filter balanced it will be a whole lot easier to acclimate fish to your tank and keep them alive. Then you can really enjoy your fish.
