Even though they are fresh water there should be some aquarium salt added to provide electrolytes and help with slime coat development. I generally use 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons. These are not to be confused with brackish water eels like the Snowflake. IP: Logged

The water from the ocean mixes with the freshwater from the river or stream. This is why it has a higher salt content, but is not high enough to be considered marine. Favored food for eels is blood worms, live or frozen. IP: Logged
