This question requires a little more info: What kind of plants do you have? - different plants have different lighting needs. What size tank do you have? - height is important when calculating lighting requirements. What kind of light do you have? Flourescent etc. and strength. Generally, it is fine to leave the tank lit during the day as long as the lighting is adequate. IP: Logged |

For the plants 8 to 12 hours a day. For the fish generally 8 hours, but there are variables for different fish. I have to leave a low wattage light on all night for my Arawana. If the room and the tank are totally dark he freaks out and slams the lid on the tank at night. IP: Logged |
