Let me state my problem, i had about 7 goldfishes in my 350 gallon tank and thought of changing them .
I brought 2 bala sharks (about 5 inches), 2 rainbow sharks (abt 5 inches), 2 blue line sharks (3 inches) adn 4 albino sharks(1.5 inches). I put them in with the goldfishes for 3 days so that the sharks could settle down. Everythig fine till now. Then yesterday i took the goldfishes out adn give it to a relative for his fish pond. In the night i feed the sharks with the regaular feed adn after some time i saw something really odd. One of the bala sharks was at the bottom of the tank, upside down (belly up), still breathing but not moving. I tried to bring her to the old position but of no use, she would again drift back to belly-up. I could see that her condition was not right. When she was lying there, one of the rainbow started to come towards her (thinking of eating the poor fellow) but the second bala shark chased her and saved her dying buddy. In the night I took the unfortunate bala out of the tank and put her in a water filled vessel as i donot want her to die in the aquarium and spoil the rest of the water. In the morning i saw the bala shark dead.
Kindly help me in dealing with this problem as i am very distressed adn sorry for the poor shark and never want to see this again for any other one.
Kindly help.

Did you acclimate the fish to the water as well as the temp. It sounds like something stressed the fish and it was not strong enough to recover or being stessed it could have been more prone to bacteria or parasites that would normaly not harm the fish.

Did you notice anything strange about the fish color white spots or anything wrong with the gills or fins? It's hard to say without seeing the situation.

Do you live in Pakistan? I work with someone from there he went home last year and brought back some great pictures of his homeland. I think it's a beautiful place. I was guilty of thinking that it was a desert until I saw the pictures.

Most probable cause. Your bacterial filtration was balanced for the amount of waste put out by the type and number of fish in the tank. Goldfish are high waste producers. The bacteria feeds off of that waste. When you removed the 7 Goldfish you removed a tremendous amount of waste production. When you removed the waste prodution you had more bacteria than waste going into the tank for it to feed on. The result is bacteria overload. If you looked closely at your tank you probably noticed a white cloudiness to your water. The cloudiness was bacteria suspended in the water. The next time you help your friend out just give him one or two fish at a time and do a 20% water change on your tank after you remove the fish. This will help keep your tank's bacterial filter and his pond's filtration balanced. Hope this helps.
