i am a fairly experience fish keeper however being a teenager and short on funds i shut down my ten and twenty nine gallon aquariums and recently acquired a betta. He lives in a one gallon tank (not optimal, i know but i'm kinda pinched for cash) I keep his tank at 76-82 degrees i dechlorinate his water and change it regularly his ph is kept a 7.0 i also use a small pump because i heard that it's better for water circulation however he is not as active as when i first bought him and appears to have lost some of his color (like more dull not lighter) i would appreciate any tips Also have kept him unnamed to promote longevity cause as soon as you name fish, they die as everyone knows IP: Logged |

Hello iluvponies, Everything you describe seems perfectly acceptable. A lot of times fish's colors dull not because the food they are getting is not nutritious but because it's the same thing every day. Try varying your bettas diet. A little brine shrimp, a little bit of blood worms and maybe some Tetramin color flake food. I love a good steak, but I would kind of fade away if I had to eat it 7 days a week. IP: Logged |
