what kind of cichlids do you have? may be a stupid question, but are you sure you have any females in there? lol
is your water hard? have any holey limestone in there? lots of caves? a flat rock? is the water 80 degrees ie. warm?
I've heard things that will make them breed is 80 degree water, frequent water changes, and frozen foods (brine shrimp).
it is hard to tell the sex in a lot of the cichlids, though, that is why I mentioned the sexes above. I have a female red zebra that I can only tell is female because she's always mouthbrooding. her egg spots are bright and bold as can be. shrug.
another that mouth broods a lot in my tank is a hap nubilis. she's obviously female because she's very very drab in comparison to the male.
good luck

Yes if you are sure you have male /Female raise the water temp to 80 - 82F. Depending on fish species add a peice of flat smooth slate rock in the tank if the are egg layers. If not get more females.African Cichlid males have many mates unlike South-Americans which choose one mate and chase off or kill the rest. Good Luck!!
