hello, my oscar was doing great up until 5 days ago when he stopped eating an then finally died today. He has no outward signs of disease or parasites (i checked the gills too). He was one year old and about 7". Anyone have any thoughts as to what happened (ps: water quality is fine- other fish in tank are doing good.) IP: Logged |

it could be old age, cuz u never really know how old they are when u get them. The are captured in the wild so even the shops dont know how old they are.......its nothing u have done...........ive had a fish that has lived for a year..........but i think it was old age as it looked like an old fish but was sold in a shop that said it was a baby..u cant trust shops ------------------ IP: Logged |

I had an oscar mysteriously kick the bucket several years ago and when I looked close (realy close) I noticed he ended up having little tiny holes all in his head. Being curious, I cut it open and realized that a parasite must have done it, since it went straight through the head and into the brain. This also recently happened to one of my best orandas. Probably a little late now to check, but it might also be a good idea to keep an eye on any other fish you may have. IP: Logged |
