you are over feeding your oscar, i hope you have good filtration and vaccum the substrate at least once a week, i feed my fish (one of them being a oscar) twice a day and you are eventuall gonna need a bigger tank the oscar is gonna get about 15inch. IP: Logged |

remember you will need a bigger tank when that oscar gets bigger. Go for either a 60 or a 75 IP: Logged |

the oscar should be fed 4 times a week only. You should feed the osca with alternate meals. for example. Monday morning feed it with pellets then on the evening feed it with live fish. Wednesday morning feed the oscar with live fish then feed it with pellets on evening. IP: Logged |

Where is everyone getting this information about overfeeding Oscars? I've never heard of such. In nature fish have peak feeding times in which they feed heavily but they graze continually. Please let me know where I can find this overfeeding information. IP: Logged |

You have to understand also that the fish is not in nature, and most likely is slugish do to overfeeding, try feeding once a day and vary the diet, oscars will over eat if you let them...mine will eat anything that you put in the tank, i have a plec and when i first got him i would try to put algae wafers in for him and the oscars would eat them before they reached the bottom, so i put some zucini in for the plec, well the oscars ate all of that and chased the plec away when it tried to eat.
