Help! I have used to have 15 4.5" rainbow trout and now have 11. I thought it was a water quality problem and did some flow adjustment as well as changing water. I also stopped feeding them for 2 days to let them destress. They acted just fine yesterday, but refused to eat today. I checked my nitrate and ammonia levels again today(they are the fine, even better than I hoped.) The temperature is fine, the DO level is great, and the food has all the needed nutrients. The ones who died looked absolutely healthy apart from being dead! While I know this is aquarium fish page I know that the principles are the same. Is there anything i have overlooked?? I know my ta is stumped.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
PS These fish are being raised for a class, but aside from being my grade I have gotten very attached to them.

Years ago we used to call it UFD (unknown fish disease). What we used to call UFD was probably an internal fungus called Ichthyophonus. This is not to be confused with Ichthyphthirius, commonly called ick or white spot. Ichthyophonus occurs in Fresh Water and Marine fish. In latter stages it can give some outward signs but is not always the case. You might type Ichthyophonus in your search engine for more information. Maybe you can even get some extra credit on the information on this disease for your project.

Thanks! They seem to be doing much better now- but I am keeping a sharp eye out on them. It is a lot easier now that I have something that I am definitely looking for. Thanks again.
