i have 2 fairly small (3 inches) albino oscars, and one of them looks pretty sick. the sick one looks like he's covered in a light coat of greyish dirt, has a BB sized hole in his tail and looks like his skin is rotting. the other one also looks kind of dirty, but much less noticably, and its only pronounced on the margins of his scales. the 2 tiger oscars, 2 pacu and jack demsey are all doing great in the same 125 gallon tank, but i've been treating it with both maracyn and maracyn 2 for 4 days now. it definitly looks like the hole in the sick one's tail stoped growing, and may be healing, but both of them still look like they're covered in dust. i am pretty well funded at the moment, so i dont mind treating the whole tank, but i really want to get the little guys healthy again. anyway, i would really appreciate any advice anyone can offer me. thanks

Im thinking it might be some sort of fungus- http://www.cichliddepot.com/diseases/fungus.html

check that out and go from there. I don't know what else it would be.. My oscar has lived with no diseases so far... His face looks a little re-arranged from piranhas but that doesnt happen too much anymore

...light coat of greyish dirt... probably a fungus called velvet quite possibly with ick. BB sized hole in his tail... probably fin rot. All of these can be caused from bacterial problems. Maracyn and Maracyn 2 are correct with the possible addition of Maracide it there is truly ick. Main thing to help the meds work is to make sure the tank and gravel is clean.
