kc5gvn Member Posts: 429 From: Registered: Jan 2003	posted 09-27-2003 02:08 PM There are three ways you generally get ick in the tank. 1)Introduction of new fish into the tank that are already infested. 2)Poor tank conditions resulting in bacterial overload. 3)Rapid temperature changes, + or - 2 degrees in a 24 hour period. Before treating the tank, make sure that you have gotten the conditions right in the tank by doing a 20% water change from the bottom to clean the gravel. Also make sure that the temperature is stable. If you do not have a heater in the tank get one so that after you have treated the tank the ick doesn't come back. IP: Logged
