ok first the comment.... in the paper here ther was a pic and a write up about a man and his pacu im not sure on the story, i think it was just the fish and its size the Pacu is 60 kg or about 130 pounds!!!! it was amazing. the story was about how he takes care of it and the setup he has, its a 400 gal tank!
i was also impressed by the owner not recomending a pacu as a pet unless you have the proper setup.

now my question...
i got 3 fire mouths to bunk with the green terror i read that green terrors are aggrivated by bright colours is this true??
if so than fire mouths may pose as a problem when they all mature.
next... at the LPS they have a tank with about 4 "Banjo" Catfish has anyone heard of or seen them before they are very odd looking i am considering getting one.

also...(sorry)
the fire mouthes are two male and a female. (hope they breed) and the males play "dead" i have never laughed so hard in my life untill i seen them do it. the pet store owner netted them and they went belly up, i told him to put them back i thought they were gonna die, he told me that they do that i didnt belive him. so i brought them home and read that sure enough its a submissive thing they do....very funny.

i wouldnt recommend putting a green terror with the firemouths b/c the firemouths are not as aggresive as the green terror, so they will be pushed around ALOT. A dempsey would be able 2 hold its own ground, so that mite be another option if u like them.

It's been a lot of years since I messed with Banjo Cats at the pet shop so this is more or less from memory. As I remember they were a little finicky about water conditions somewhat like Pimolodella. They like slightly acid water but it must be clear. They work well in a community tank since they don't get very large. I wouldn't really recommend them for a cichlid tank. If you like the Banjo Cat for a community tank you might also want to look at another fish the Farowella. Similar unusual shape. A great site for information on catfish is www.planetcatfish.com
