I have two plecos in my 10G tank with two baby irids. My plecos seem happy. I give them veggies to eat plus some left-over fish pellets. I've heard that Plecos are night-feeders but mine seems to be eating even during the mornings. Is there something lacking in their diet? What else can I feed them that will give them a balanced diet? Hello DyaniBGud, What you are doing sounds fine. There doesn't seem to be anything lacking in their diet. You didn't specify what type Plecostamus. The Anostamus are basically vegeterian, but even so they should have some protien in their diet. Some of the newer species to the market like the Swirl and Arabesque need more protien in their diet. Don't worry about whether they are day or night feeders. In nature fish feed night and day. They just have a stronger feeding time at one or the other. Also you have to remember your aquarium is a controlled environment not like what is found in nature. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |
