..... Well i have a big problem i am a new fish owner and i need some information on my 2 new tiger oscars. 1.What size tank would i need to put them in? right now they are in a small tank, i don't know how many gallons the tank is but it is a 60cm by 31cm tank. my oscars are about 2 inch. each. 2.How can i find out the sex of my oscars? 3.i know my tank is small but if my oscars stayed in the tank they are in now, how long could they stay in it, and what would happen to them if i just left them in that tank? 4.One of my oscars fins are always faned out and there are two black and orange fins on the bottom of him. while the others fins are always laying down and almost never faned out and the two fins on the bottom of the fish, are also always against his body what does this mean? 5. I had a third oscar but i brought it back because someone told be if 2 of the oscars got close than they might just attack and pester the other one. but that oscar that i returned would sometimes just lay on it's side at the bottom can u tell me what was wrong with him, or was that normal? 6.i keep reading a bunch of stuff and people keep talking about ph, what is ph? 7.My last question is not really a question, it's more of a cry for help. So can you just help me and give me any tips tricks and usful info. that i will need to know in order to care for these fish. i belive that ph is probly very important and if i didn't know about that well then you sould let me in on alot of stuff that i will need to know and do for my fish.

This link has info on ph. Different fish "require" different ph levels but you can go outside a fishes recommended ph level. The most important thing is to keep it at the same level, if it changes to much it will stress your fish or even send them into ph shock which can be lethal.
Your gonna need a large tank for two oscars. Right now I have one tigar oscar and a jack dempsy in a 55 gal. and will soon transfer them over to a 75 gal. Just to be nice. Some people say that fish will not out grow there tank but this is a myth and is cruel to the fish. If you leave them in a small tank they won't grow out as fast or as much and there life will be shortened because of this.
As for sexing the fish I've never been very good at that on most species maybe someone else has some advice on that one.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you run into any serious problems, there's alot of people here with good advice.
