I have discovered lately that rainbows are very randy fish. I have kept them in the past with none of these problems, so have been surprised by my 2 male bosemani that are trying mightily to spawn... with a moonlight Gourami. Now, I can understand this fish may look like a female bosemani and cause confusion, but my gourami is a Male. a boy fish! Are fish really this clueless?? I have to say I'm pretty surprised. The subdominant bosemani even flirted with my siamese algae eater. What's up with that? At least the courting is pretty amusing to watch, and the color changes as well. IP: Logged |

Wow I never heard of that one before. I guess that would be interesting to watch at the least. Although I would have to agree that most fish are not that smart. On the other hand I disaree with those who claim that all fish have a very limited and poor memory. My sister has a Red Devil That I swear not only remembers me but can recognise me from across the room when I walk in to her apt. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Don't be too surprised. I've had several different kinds of fish in the past that followed "alternative lifestyles". I had two female Firemouths that did the mating dance all the time. Right now I've got three male Silver Dollars that two months ago were getting all hot and bothered for each other. Side note to Auspet: If you feel the content is too adult feel free to edit.
