First: Thanks kc5gvn for the advise on the tank size. That gives me time to get the 75 gallon set up.

Question: Does anybody here use the Clean and Fill system from Python products?

I think its great for cleaning the gravel, but when I fill, I hold an eye-dropper of de-clorinator over the stream of water as it fills the tank. It this a safe method? Or is it introducing clorinated water to the tank too fast for the drops to get it before harming the fish?

Thanks,
Severum Owner. :-)

I'm not famailiar with a Python Clean and Fill but I'm guessing it's pretty much the same as a waterbed drain and fill kit which I have used. The biggest problem I had with that type of kit was getting ick from not being able to regulate the temperature of the water I was adding into the tank. You might want to check with your local pet shop to see if your local water uses chlorine or chloramines. If it is chloramines you will need to change the type chemical you use. Even though I don't like to use chemicals in the tank I have come to be a big believer in PH buffers when doing water changes. BTW with the method you are using, the chlorine remover will be distributed better if you keep the end of the hose above the water in the tank and let it splash than if you have the end of the hose below the water line.

Yup I think kc5gvn hit the nail on the head. Your biggest problem is the temp and ph. I personaly use a seven gal. cooler to mix my water in for this reason, some things I just have to get perfect. I guess that's not to bad of a flaw. I do know people that use the method you do and they add the de-chlor. in some as they add and some after and don't have any problems with chlorine poisoing.
