My lionhead died, I found her a couple of hours ago. I whant to put something in the tank, cause I don't whant to c it empty, and she was the last fish I had for a long time. I know she is a coldwater, and she wasn't in her enviroment,so now I will head for some tropical fish, I would like some livebearers , i'd like to experience the thing, but will for ex 2 guppies fill my tank with fry, mine is small, but has hiding places and stuff. secondly. Should I change the water or the coal and foam of the filter, I don't know exactly of what the lionhead died, but I was giving medication, and anti stress stuff. the ph is fine, and even the no 2 , i have to check amonia. Give my some hindt , i don't want to put another fish in a matchbox to bury it,at least not for the coming time. IP: Logged |

Hi claudia, I'm sorry to hear about your lionhead. I can't remember what size your tank is but I do remember how warm it is in your area. Considering the UFD (unknown fish disease) I would recommend breaking down the tank, cleaning everything and starting with new carbon and filter media. Since you will be starting from scratch and the tank will have to cycle, a livebearer I would recommend is Mollies. Black Mollies are hardy enough to go through a Marine cycle. Sailfin Mollies aren't quite as hardy as the Black Mollies but my brother-in-law has successfully cycled freswater tanks with them several times, and they are a lot prettier than the Black Mollies. Good luck on your new setup. IP: Logged |
