I am new to keeping fish. I only have just managed to get my tank, water, etc in order and keep some fish alive. I did quite a bit of research, lost a lot of fish, but I have learned about water chemicals, temp, what certain fish need etc. I'm all about the education! I finally have a 12 gallon tank running in order and all was well until I had some algae growing way out of control. i didnt want a huge pleco in my tank so the woman at the pet place suggested a snail and a chinese algae eater. Since they were small I said cool It hasnt been that long and my snail has really grown! I don't know much about snails but I've enjoyed watching him move about. Use the bubbler as a catapult *laugh* and eat some Hikari Algae Waffers like they were going out of style. Lately however he's not been himself. Uzu, short for Uzumaki (Japanese for spiral), has been stagnating. I don't even think he eats anymore. He sits hanging partly out of his shell or he moves to one corner and just falls over. He'll stay this way for hours and when I pick him up he scrunches back in. When I put him back in the water, he slowly comes out, moves a bit, falls over and just lays there. He's not dead but ... I mean I don't know whats wrong with him. This happened overnight. I've attached some pictures of how he is positioned most of the time. I can see that he moves arond at night. (when I wake up he's in the same position just a different area of the tank). Is Uzu dying? I'm very concerned. I cant seem to find any information on snail disease online. I mean I can but he doesnt have a cracked shell or anything like that. He just lays there, kinda half in, half out, whith his tentacles just curled up. I dunno. Any help would be really appreciated. As a side. All the fish in the tank are healthy and happy and looking good and bright. They're all eating and show no signs of disease. IP: Logged |
