I just bought a clown loach and have it in my hospital tank. I need some ideas on food. I just took out two butterfly plecos that probably emptied out all the btm feeder food that would have been in the tank from uneaten food. I just can't think of anything small enough to fit in it's mouth it's just a baby. ------------------ IP: Logged |

My clown loach will eat flakes along with the other fish in the tank. It will swim up and eat with them and then poke around the bottom for awhile. It also likes any frozen foods like blood worms and brine shrimp. enjoy! and for some reason it's not very interested in any of the sinking pellets.. shrimp pellets or algae pellets. I guess it gets filled up on yummy frozen foods and flakes LOL [This message has been edited by dianenm (edited 08-20-2003).] IP: Logged |

Thanks, Mine doesn't seem interested in the pellets or flakes but I didn't even think of brine shrimp. I have some that I bought for Angels I'll give it try. I've been putting in flakes cause I also bought two yellow lobochromis (not sure about spelling) but they gobble up all the flakes. How big is your clown loach? ------------------ IP: Logged |

My loach is a fat 2 inches or so. I've had it for over a year and it's grown quite a bit. I really like him/her. my loach is in my general community tank, but I've heard you can put them with some cichlids. I have my yellow lab in with other cichlids and he's a PIG. I'm thinking of getting a few more of those. I think since it's a mbuna they do best on spirulina flakes to prevent bloat. I'm new at the cichlid thing though : ) IP: Logged |

With loaches the way they eat, the size of the food is not really a problem. It's about like a human eating spagetti. IP: Logged |
