Hello everyone.
I just got a Columbian redtailed catfish and it is eating fine, my ph 7.2 which is what is recommended for them and temp goes from 73-76. Absolutly 0 amonia and that is the only fish in the tank but now all of the sudden it is acting real stupid. It is fliping and floping all through the water and it acts like it cant swim straight. My bro in law had one that done the same thing and died after 2 days of doing it. We cant figure it out. What is our problem.

first of all is it like the kind of redtail that gets 5ft long and has a huge appatite or is it like the asain redtail thats just a black catfish with a red tail?

Yes this fish gets very large.
Here is a link if you need to see a pic so you will know exactly what I have. The guy at the pet store said it was a columbain redtail catfish. Is that even correct. I had never seen one till he got them in.

3" fish 35 gal tank
Plenty of room and plus I put a cave set up in it so the fish could hide when it wants.

just to let u know when it gets bigger u will need like 180+ gallon tank
