help!!!! my 2-1/2 year old pacu wont eat. its been two weeks and he still hasnt really eaten. i have resorted to live fish and he only ate one of the 6 i threw in there. they were just zebras..nothing special. hes not sick cause he looks fine and swims just the same. he looks at me when i come in and goes tot he top of the tank so i know he is hungry. what should i do. do pacus normally go thru a phase when they wont eat?? please help. also...do u know how you can you post pictures here cause i have some great ones of him. Have you moved the tank or changed anything in the tank? Pacu's have definite personalities and don't like change. If you change something in the tank they will sometimes pout. If you haven't changed anything in the tank check the water temperature to see if it is lower than normal. If it is running cooler than normal it is just that their metabolism is slower and he's not as hungry as normal. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

Yes, Pacus will eat feeder fish, however, I STRONGLY discourage this habit. Pacus are vegatarians. By giving them meat they can get sick because they are not bread to digest it well. Also, if you have been feeding your Pacu feeder fish and he stopped eating, he could have a disease. IP: Logged |

thanks all of you who replied. i raised the temperature up and he seems to be more active and he looks better to. true they are vegentarian fish but they do eat meat, however now that i know they have trouble digesting it i will pay attention to his diet more carefully. IP: Logged |
