my large (~14"), common pleco has 2 growths on his side, close to his head. they each appeared literally overnight & are growing. 1 has gotten to the circumfrence of a quarter, sticking out maybe 1/4" His eyes also appear to have cataracts. any idea what this may be?? the growths are like a multitude of sacs, color matches the pleco. Also, what is the likely life span of this fish? I've had him about 10 years, & he was an adult when I got him. he is eating & acting mostly normally, if a little sporadic in movements at times. he just seems off, if that makes sense. Could he simply be getting old? Do fish have age related maladies?? ideas? Thanks! IP: Logged |

10 years WOW ive had my pleco for just about a year and a half he is 9" and looking forward to see how big hes gonna get. about the age Regular Plecostomus can live 10 years and probably much longer and grow to be at least 24" long, but they can exceed 12" in an aquarium of great size IP: Logged |
